The Code of Structural Steel for Buildings(REAE) was prepared under the auspices of the Co-operation Agreement signed by the Macau Directorate of Soil, Public Works and Transport(DSSOPT) and LECM, and was published in the Offical Gazette of the Macau SAR, as the Administrative Regulation n.29/2001, of 26 November 2001.
To make easy and to exemplify the application of the above mentioned Code, LECM prepared the Manual of Steel Structures for Buildings, in Chinese, Portuguese and English versions.
The contents of this Manual follows in general the sequence of the matters specified in the Code of Structural Steel for Buildings(REAE), including the general principles of design of steel structures and of execution of steelwork, verification of safety limit states, fire resistance, materials, connections, workmanship and quality assurance, and common tables and diagrams., and so forth in 13 chapters and 6 appendices, for reference either in structural design following the REAE or in execution phase.
All the application examples in this Manual comply with the relevant specifications of the Code of Structural Steel for Buildings(REAE) and the Macau Code of Safety and Actions for Building and Bridge Structures(RSA). For special structures, such as bridges, towers, tanks and chimneys, the specifications of the Eurocode3(ENV1993 Part1 to 8) should also be complied.
